#Jay Som and Chastity Belt’s Annie Truscott Form New Band, Share Song: Listen

Jay Som’s Melina Duterte and Chastity Belt bassist Annie Truscott have announced a new collaborative project called Routine. The duo will release its debut EP, called And Other Things, on November 20 (via Friends Of/Dead Oceans). Below, listen to Routine’s debut single “Cady Road.”

Duterte and Truscott wrote and recorded And Other Things in a month in Joshua Tree, California. Truscott sings lead and wrote most of the EP, while Duterte served as an accompanist, producer, and engineer. “In Annie’s songs I hear a yearning for something just out of reach, something unachievable,” Duterte said in a press release. “She’s such a great singer, so it felt good to just layer instruments to make her vision for it feel fully fleshed out.”

Jay Som and Chastity Belt both released albums in 2019: Anak Ko and Chastity Belt, respectively.
