#GGO Celebrate Children’s Day in Japan

Children’s Day is an annual national public holiday in Japan that coincides with the final day of Golden Week, and celebrates the growth and happiness of children on May 5, 2024. As part of the celebrations, multi-colored carp-shaped streamers are hung outside houses and apartments, with red bean rice cakes wrapped in oak leaves offered as treats for the occasion.

OSHI NO KO commemorated Children’s Day by featuring its main characters, Aqua and Ruby, in their school festival outfits while eating a picnic outside. In addition, a 30-second video featuring Yumi Uchiyama and Yurie Igoma voicing their characters was released.

Those two anime series weren’t the only shows to celebrate Children’s Day, as the official twitter account of the 2005-2006 Black Cat TV anime series posted a still from its 14th episode, featuring various children gathered around the main character.

The My Happy Marriage TV anime series also released a visual of Miyo and Kiyoka as children as part of the national holiday.

Besides Japan, Children’s Day is also celebrated in many parts of the world throughout the year, each with their own traditions and celebrations. Among the countries that commemorate it in some form include China, South Korea, Singapore, Thailand, Germany, Italy, Ireland, Mexico, and many more.
