#Part VI Anime Gets New Visual, Staff, Premieres October 9

The official website and Twitter account for the Lupin the Third anime franchise revealed a new visual, additional staff, and October 9 premiere date for the upcoming Lupin the Third: Part VI anime.

The newly announced staff members include renowned director Mamoru Oshii (Ghost in the Shell, Urusei Yatsura: Beautiful Dreamer), legendary scriptwriter Masaki Tsuji (Astro Boy), Taku Ashibe (Murder in the Red Chamber),  Akio Higuchi (Zone), and Kanae Minato (Confession) as guest writers, Yumi Matsumiya (ATASHIn’CHI), Kōichirō Bizen (Date A Live III), Hiromasa Ogura (91 Days), Wataru Nishizawa (Boruto: Naruto the Movie background artist), Beom Seon Lee (Lupin III: Goodbye Partner), and Yūsuke Takeda (The Eccentric Family) as art directors, Hiromi Miyawaki (Barakamon) as color key artist, Akemi Sasaki (Kamisama Kiss) as director of photography, and Masato Yoshitake (Attack on Titan The Final Season) as editor. Youji Shimizu (Lupin the Third: Part V) is the sound director and Hiromune Kurahashi (Akudama Drive) is handling the sound effects.

Previously revealed staff includes Eiji Suganama (Lupin III: Prison of the Past) as director, Takahiro Ōkura (Lupin the Third: Part V) as series composer, Hiroki Marufuji (Lupin III: Goodbye Partner) as character designer, and Yuji Ohno (Lupin III) as music composer. The late Monkey Punch is credited for the original work. TMS Entertainment is in charge of the animation production.

The Lupin the Third series is based on the manga by Monkey Punch and follows the titular master thief Arsene Lupin and his various heists and escapades. The manga spawned multiple TV anime sequels, films, and specials. Lupin the Third: Part V is the most recent TV anime in the series. Crunchyroll streamed Part 5 as it aired.

Sentai Filmworks licenses the upcoming anime and describes the story as:

Gentleman thief Lupin III is back and ready for his next caper— unless legendary sleuth, Sherlock Holmes, has anything to say about it! When Holmes’ longtime partner, Dr. Watson, is murdered, none other than Lupin tops the suspects list. With Holmes fast closing in, Lupin must prove his innocence and bring a shadowy organization called The Raven to heel if he wants to live to steal another day.
