#Ex-Alabama cop gets 30-year sentence for killing wife in plea deal

A former Alabama cop has pleaded guilty to shooting his wife in the head after forcing her out of a bar in front of her friends.

Under the murder plea deal with prosecutors, Jason McIntosh, 46, will spend 30 years behind bars, and avoid the death penalty, according to AL.com.

McIntosh frog-marched his 31-year-old estranged wife Megan Montgomery out of a Mountain Brook bar and drove her to a parking lot where he beat and shot her in December 2019, according to the report.

McIntosh resigned from the Hoover Police Department after shooting Montgomery in the arm earlier that year while the two were wrestling over a handgun, the article stated.

Montgomery declined to file charges in that shooting, and investigators found that she was the aggressor in the incident, according to the report.

The victim had reportedly taken out a restraining order against the disgraced cop and was seeking a divorce before the murder.

McIntosh was reportedly arrested on a domestic violence charge for attacking his wife two days after she filed for divorce. That attack left Montgomery scraped up with red marks all over her body, the outlet reported.
