Howard Stern has condemned Johnny Depp’s behavior during his ongoing defamation trial, calling him a “huge narcissist.” Depp has sued ex-wife Amber Heard for $50 million for an article she wrote in The Washington Post in 2018 that implied Depp abused her during their marriage. Heard didn’t mention the Pirates of the Caribbean star’s name and has counter-sued for $100 million. Unlike the pair’s UK trial, which took place behind closed doors, this one is being live-streamed globally, a decision that Heard’s legal team was reportedly against and Depp’s team in favor of.

Popular radio host Howard Stern recently slammed Johnny Depp for televising the trial and trying to “charm the pants off America.” On Monday’s episode of his Sirius XM radio show (via Mediaite), Stern said,

“The reason he wanted that on — he wanted it televised [because] that’s what narcissists do. They think they can talk their way out of anything. I think Johnny Depp is a huge narcissist and what I mean by that is — he figured, ‘I’ll put this on TV and because I’m so persuasive and because I’m so smart, I’m such a wonderful guy.”

It appears Stern isn’t a fan of Depp’s talking style and his constant quips while testifying either. “And I’ll play you some clips from the Johnny Depp trial,” Stern told co-host Robin Quivers. “If he isn’t acting — I mean, he’s so over-acting. Cause he’s writing his own material as he goes along. You know, I gotta tell you, he’s wrong. He shouldn’t be putting this on TV in any shape.”

Stern further agreed with Quivers that this trial won’t help Depp save his Hollywood career and that he is just embarrassing himself at this point. He also believes that the trial is not doing any favors to Heard’s reputation either. Stern even criticized Depp’s accent.

“’I will charm the pants off of America at the trial.’ No you won’t! This will not go well. It’s not going well for you, it’s not going well for her. It’s not going well for anybody. You sound like two battling children. It’s just coming off really badly. Johnny Depp testified in court for two days last week. Two days. Think about that, lots of room to embarrass yourself. Two full, fu***g days! First of all, his difficulty in speaking the English language is fantastic…And the accent. First of all, isn’t he from like the South of the Midwest? Johnny Depp was born in Kentucky. Does that sound like a guy from Kentucky?”

Johnny Depp Is Receiving Immense Support From Fans And Friends

So far in the sensational trial, Depp has had the opportunity to tell his story to the jury and the public, and he has received overwhelming support from fans. His previous girlfriends have come out in support, and so have his co-stars. Laurie Holden recently recalled defending Depp when the abuse allegations first surfaced in 2016. Winona Ryder, Vanessa Paradis, Penelope Cruz, and Javier Bardem are some of the people who’ve publicly spoken out in Depp’s defense.

There have also been petitions to rehire him as Captain Jack Sparrow in Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean series, but unfortunately, that ship has passed. Depp says his career as it was back in the day is now over. Hopefully, both he and Heard will find some resolution after their long-standing legal battle comes to an end, but that’s unlikely to happen any time soon.

After four days on the witness stand, Depp concluded his testimony on April 25. The trial is expected to last six weeks, and more details regarding the couple’s private lives will be unearthed. Several celebrity witnesses will be called upon to testify, and the trial will only get messier from here.
