You've never heard of Splatoon? The Splatoon spin-offs are action-packed video games for the Nintendo Switch. You play as cute squid-human creatures who compete in color battles. The goal is to mark as much territory as possible with color while outsmarting opponents with colors and special attacks. There are different game modes, but the focus is always on the colors. The latest offshoot was released for the Nintendo Switch in September 2022. A DLC with new content has also been released.

Anyone who owns the paid DLC can plunge back into the old Inkopolis from the first part in Splatoon 3. Hidden alleys, colorful characters and a landmark that cannot be missed: the Inkopolis Tower. It stands in the middle of the city and is the city's flagship. But even if you've only seen pictures of Tokyo, you'll notice that the Tokyo Tower looks remarkably similar to the Inkopolis Tower. But what exactly makes the Tokyo Tower so special?

Not only is it an iconic landmark of the Japanese capital, but at 333 meters high, it towers over the entire Tokyo skyline and offers breathtaking views of the city and Mount Fuji. It was completed in 1958 and serves as both a television tower and a tourist attraction. The big difference to the Inkopolis Tower is the striking red and white color scheme. He has also appeared in some anime. For example, he played a larger role in the 13th Detective Conan film.

But Inkopolis itself is also very reminiscent of the Shibuya district in Japan. Shibuya, a huge district in central Tokyo, attracts visitors from all over the world. The so-called Shibuya crossing is world-famous, where thousands of people can cross the intersection at the same time. The nightlife and the great neon lighting also create an atmosphere that is similar to Splatoon. Shibuya also appeared in various anime such as Jujutsu Kaisen.

Japan is also known for its large number of hot springs, the so-called onsen. Splatoon 3 pays respect to the popularity of the sources with its own map. The “Kusaya Springs” have been serving as a venue for exciting turf battles since the 2022 chilly season.
