#What to watch after reading the Pentagon UFO report

The truth is out there.

There’s been a slew of UFO related programming all over TV in recent weeks, thanks in part to their prominence in the news. On Friday, the US Intelligence community released its highly anticipated report about a series of unidentified flying objects that have been spotted by US Navy pilots over the past few decades.

Unfortunately for those who were hoping for definitive proof of little green men, it didn’t divulge anything conclusive. But that hasn’t stopped various scientists, experts, and talking heads to dive headfirst into the subject in a variety of shows and specials.

In addition to some upcoming programming that doesn’t yet have a release date — such as Demi Lovato’s untitled UFO show at Peacock — here’s a sampling of what to watch if you found your interest in the topic piqued due to current events.

“TMZ Investigates: UFOs: The Pentagon Proof” (Tuesday, June 29 at 8 p.m. on Fox)

In this special, the team at TMZ looks into the declassified Pentagon report on UFOs, probe at the footage, and interview scientists, military pilots, and former Pentagon officials. “The show is a process of elimination of sorts, taking theories off the table and seeing what we’re left with will undoubtedly be pretty amazing,” TMZ boss Harvey Levin said in a statement.

“UFOs Declassified Live” (Wednesday, June 30 at 8 p.m. on Discovery, Travel Channel, and Science Channel)

Hosted by Josh Gates (Discovery’s “Expedition Unknown”), this three-hour multi-platform special will feature experts in the subject including NASA Administrator Bill Nelson; former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, retired senior intelligence officer Bob Wallace, astrophysicist Dr. Hakeem Oluseyi, former UK Ministry of Defense employee Nick Pope, intelligence historian Keith Melton, and even “The X-Files” creator Chris Cater and Blink-182 founder and UFO enthusiast Tom DeLonge, among others.

“It’s a question that has been asked for centuries – are we alone in the universe?” Scott Lewers, Executive Vice President of Multiplatform Programming, Factual & Head of Content, Science said in a statement. “And with the delivery of this highly anticipated report to the US Congress, we… are proud to bring together top military and government experts, along with UFO believers and skeptics, to analyze the revelations this report holds, and to bring their unique insight to what we know and don’t know.”

The Posts’ own UFO series investigates the facts and evidence around the field of UFOs, including interviews with ex Pentagon officials and Navy pilots, examinations of sightings and reported navy encounters, and more.

“Roswell: The Final Verdict” (Discovery+, streaming July 2).

On the 74th anniversary of one of the most famous UFO incidents in US history, this six-episode miniseries looks into the events of the supposed extraterrestrial crash landing in 1947 Roswell, NM and analyzes eyewitness accounts. It will also use AI to attempt to determine if any of the witnesses were telling the truth.

“UFO,” (Showtime, August 8 at 9 p.m.)

This four-part docuseries hailing from fictional outer-space king JJ Abrams (and his production company Bad Robot) explores the theories around UFOs and the history around their journey in and out of the mainstream. It will look at their relationship to the US government and military as well as private citizens who have been ridiculed for their accounts.

Heaven’s Gate: The Cult of Cults” (HBO Max, now streaming)

This four part docuseries examines the 1975 cult that flew under the radar for decades in the US and its shocking UFO related beliefs — which all ended with a 1997 sucide of 39 people in San Diego (they believed it was their ticket to an alien kingdom). The series dives into their claim that humans were actually extraterrestrials and it includes interviews with former member and their friends and family members as well as new footage.
