#Man shoved onto Manhattan subway tracks by suspected panhandler

A man escaped serious injury after being shoved onto the tracks of a Manhattan subway station by a suspected panhandler on Wednesday night, police said.

The victim, in his 30s, was pushed to the railbed at the 42nd Street-Bryant Park station after fighting with the man at about 7 p.m., cops said.

A verbal argument between the two turned physical before the suspect shoved the man. Afterward, the victim got back up to the platform safely. He suffered minor injuries.

Police believe the suspect, in his 20s or 30s, was panhandling outside the station before the feud.

It was not immediately clear if the suspect had asked the victim for money, or if that sparked the fight.

The suspect fled the station after the attack and was last seen wearing a red tracksuit.
