President Trump on Tuesday again urged Democratic lawmakers in Oregon to ask the federal government for help to put down the protests that have been raging for months in Portland.

“We again request Kate Brown (@OregonGovBrown), the Governor of Oregon, and Mayor@TedWheeler of Portland, to call up the National Guard like should have been done 3 months ago,” Trump posted on Twitter.

“They must stop calling these anarchists and agitators ‘peaceful protestors’. Come back into the real world! The Federal Government is ready to end this problem immediately upon your request,” the president continued.

Monday marked the 89th straight day of protests in Portland since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody in May.

The unrest was declared a riot after militants tried to set ablaze the Portland Police Association building and threw rocks at officers.

Trump said Sunday that if the Democratic leaders of cities with protests reach out to the government, he would “solve” them.

“These riots are an antigovernment movement from the Left that are all in Democrat run cities. The mayors have got to let their police do what they know how to do,” the president wrote on Twitter. “Would be very easy to suppress or, call in the Federal Government. We will solve problem fast! @foxandfriends”

On Saturday, Trump said he was poised to send in the National Guard to stop demonstrations.

Law and order and quelling the ongoing protests have been a theme of the Republican National Convention, which kicked off Monday.

Donald Trump Jr. noted the difference between his father’s stand on the unrest and that of Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden in a speech Monday.

“People of faith are under attack. You’re not allowed to go to church, but mass chaos in the streets gets a pass. It’s almost like this election is shaping up to be church, work and school vs. rioting, looting and vandalism — or, in the words of Biden and the Democrats, ‘peaceful protesting,’” he said.
