During AnimeJapan 2021, it was confirmed that The Irregular at Magic High School spin-off series The Honor at Magic High School Committee will premiere in July 2021 as a TV anime series. A new preview trailer was also revealed.

The main cast was revealed: Saori Hayami as Miyuki Shiba, Sora Amamiya as Honoka Mitsui, Yuiko Tatsumi as Shizuku Kitayama.

Key staff for the anime project was also revealed: Hideki Tachibana as director, Takashi Watanabe as deputy director, Tsuyoshi Tami as series composer, Ryotomo Yamamoto and Takao Sano as character designers, and Taku Iwasaki as music composer. CONNECT (Oreseki, Senyru Girl) is in charge of the animation production.

The anime is meant to commemorate the 10-year anniversary of the Mahouka series. The Mahouka series begin life as a novel series that was posted on the Shousetsuka Ni Narou website, where it was serialized from October 2008 to March 2011. It became a light novel series in March 2011 with Dengeki Bunko as the publisher.

The Honor Student at Magic High School is written by The Irregular at Magic High School’s Tsutomu Sato and drawn by Yu Mori. It was serialized in Dengeki Daioh from October 2012 to September 2020.

Yen Press, which publishes the English version of the manga, describes it as:

A century has passed since magic–true magic, the stuff of legends–has returned to the world. It is spring, the season of new beginnings, and a new class of students is about to begin their studies at the First National Magic University Affiliated High School, nickname: First High.

A manga spin-off of the immensely popular light novel series The Irregular at Magic High School, The Honor Student at Magic High School follows the events of the original series as seen through the eyes of Miyuki Shiba, Tatsuya’s sister. The life of an honor student comes with a lot of expectations…and unexpected hidden feelings?!
