July 18 will mark the third anniversary of the Kyoto Animation arson attack that saw the lives of 36 Kyoto Animation staff members perish. The anime studio announced today that like in the past few years, they will be forgoing a physical service and be streaming a ten-minute memorial video on the KyoAni YouTube channel.

The studio has once again asked people to refrain from going to the former site of Studio 1 – which is still under consideration for what will happen with the site and where a physical memorial space will be constructed –, as well as asking for people to not send in flowers or gifts to the studio as they will not be accepted.

Kyoto Animation said in their announcement that “It has been almost three years since the incident that took place at our 1st studio. With grief in our hearts, we have been producing animations while supporting each other and have kept moving forward day by day since then.”

The memorial video will release on July 18 at 10:30 AM Japan time and go for ten minutes, with a minute of silence at 10:35 AM for those who were lost. The video will be available for the rest of the day before going offline.
