Star Rail Wrings Out Tears With The Long Night of Serenity Animation

A new Honkai: Star Rail animated short titled The Long Night of Serenity has been released.

The seven-and-a-half-minute animation depicts the lonely and emotional past of the Chrysos Heir Castorice, the upcoming 5-star Remembrance character whose powers inexorably link her to death. Melody Muze voices Castorice in English, while Chiwa Saito is her Japanese voice actor.

The video description reads:

Don the crown that halts life
Even death itself favors lowered eyes
Walk through the palace of farewells
Connect to the world of the departed

Amid the icy depths and funeral hymns
Days and nights
Bow over this snow-covered land
Become the only song here

All sighs flow from her fingertips
All words of comfort are stopped by her hands
All cries of grief are swallowed by her palms

A poem titled “Aidonia’s Holy Maiden”

Castorice will debut in the game with April 9’s Honkai: Star Rail Version 3.2, “Through the Petals in the Land of Repose.” She is one of two upcoming new playable characters, the other being Anaxa (Erudition). Castorice is part of the Phase 1 banner, while Anaxa is part of Phase 2.

In the livestream discussing the new update, Honkai series writer Shaoji mentioned that Castorice’s animation was “a segment of the main storyline, closely tied to the Trailblaze Mission.” They continued by saying:

“Previous shorts were all standalone episodes. So the content mostly covered character backstories or extra stories. But as the main story progresses, we hope to present key plot points in more diverse ways. Just a little sneak peek, maybe in a future version there will be animations that can’t be announced in advance and can only be revealed on the day of the update.”

Honkai: Star Rail is a free-to-play turn-based RPG from HoYoverse that launched in April 2023 for PC, iOS, and Android.
