Japanese whiskey manufacturer Nagahama Distillery has opened pre-orders for a special collaboration with Coolkyousinnjya’s Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid manga series. The pre-order period for the whiskey blend began on March 10, 2023 and is priced at 11,000 yen (US$81.90) with tax included. 

The latest anime-related liquor is branded as “Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid AMAHAGAN World Blend” malt whiskey with 47% of concentrated alcohol. Only three bottles per person will be allowed on the day of the release and the total amount of orders is capped at 3,000. The whiskey bottles will be shipped out to patrons sometime in July 2023. 

The illustration on the bottle was drawn by Coolkyousinnjya himself, depicting Kobayashi pouring a glass of whiskey for Tohru, much to her content. 

The Nerima-based Bar Lemon Heart store is handling the distribution of Nagahama Distillery’s Dragon Maid whiskey product. The store takes its namesake from Mitsutoshi Furuya’s long-running manga series of the same name, which ended serialization with his passing in 2021. The store’s bartender, Riku Furuya, supervised the making of a special malt whiskey blend. In addition to whiskey, Bar Lemon Heart also sells brandy, spirits, shouchuu, snacks, syrups, and merchandise among other items. 

The Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid manga was first launched in Futabasha’s Monthly Action magazine on May 25, 2013. The series is published under the Action Comics imprint and has released 13 tankoubon volumes as of November 2022. Seven Seas Entertainment releases the manga in English. Manga spinoff series centered on Kanna, Elma, Lucoa, and Fafnir have also been launched in Manga Action. 

The manga has inspired two anime seasons from Kyoto Animation, with the most recent Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid S airing in 2021. An OVA was released on January 19, 2022. It has also inspired the short form ONA series MiniDora and the video game Miss Kobayashi’s Dragon Maid: Burst Forth!! Choro-gon Breath, which was released worldwide on August 25, 2022.
