#Craig Carton co-conspirator Joseph Meli gets more prison time

A co-conspirator of Craig Carton — the sports radio personality and convicted fraudster — will have to serve an additional year behind bars for a separate ticket-resale scam he copped to earlier this year.

Joseph Meli was sentenced to an additional 37 months in prison by Manhattan federal Judge Ronnie Abrams — but 25 of those months will run concurrent to the 6½-year sentence he’s currently serving in a separate but similar case.

Meli, 46, is currently locked up at Otisville Prison in Orange County for an earlier scam involving “Hamilton” tickets. He was also accused in a civil suit by the Securities and Exchange Commission of scheming with Carton in yet another ticket fraud.

Friday’s case centered around Meli running a $2 million Ponzi-like scheme that promised investors big cash returns on the resale of tickets to events, such as concerts and other shows. But he never made good on those deals.

Meli, who pleaded guilty in the latest case in April, apologized to the judge and his family on Friday, saying he wanted to show his victims that he would do anything to make amends.

Outside the courtroom, John Meringolo, Meli’s lawyer, said his client looks forward to putting his crimes behind him and returning to his family after serving time.
