In a recent cover interview with NME, Syd shared the news that her long-running band The Internet would stop making albums after their next one, though she didn’t disclose any other information about that record. The news comes as she prepares to drop her second solo LP, Broken Hearts Club, on Friday via Columbia.
The Internet have been making music together for over a decade, releasing their debut project Purple Naked Ladies in 2011. They followed that record up with Feel Good, Ego Death in 2015, and Hive Mind in 2018. Each member of the collective also has a solo career, with Syd and guitarist Steve Lacy both finding considerable success outside the group.
“I have no idea what’s next,” Syd said in the interview. “I don’t know. Maybe we’ll create an Internet label. We talked about that — just signing ourselves.”
