A comically timed bolt of lightning struck next to a couple getting married in Massachusetts — just moments after the groom quipped that he’s seen better years, wild video shows.
“Let’s face it, 2020 has not been the best year,” Aaron Sawitsky says during his vows at the outdoor wedding Saturday in Marion.
As if on cue, an earth-rattling boom of thunder rings through the ceremony and lightning strikes just behind the lovebirds, the now-viral footage posted on Instagram shows.
Sawitsky then gestures toward the bolt as evidence, prompting wedding guests to burst into laughter.
“It so perfectly captures the experience of 2020 so far. So, I think the only thing you can do is look at it and be like, ‘Yup. Yeah, that’s 2020.’ And
kind of laugh,” Sawitsky told the local station WHDH-TV.
He and his wife, Denice Sawitsky, had originally planned to tie the knot in June but were forced to reschedule due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The ceremony, which included 36 guests, continued without any other interruptions, Sawitsky said.
Footage of the dramatic moment went viral, raking in at least 24,500 views by Thursday afternoon.
