“Suzume no Tojimari Claims Spot in list of Highest Grossing Films in Japan: Philippines, India, Singapore and Malaysia is next?”

There is something exceptional about the Makoto Shinkai movies. Be it Weathering With You or the modern decade’s finest classic – Your Name. The recent performance of Suzume No Tojimari in Box Offices has been nothing short of phenomenal.

As of Sunday, Makoto Shinkai’s anime film “Suzume” (Suzume no Tojimari) has grossed about 13.93 billion yen (approximately US$102.2 million) and sold over 10.48 million tickets, making it the 15th highest-grossing film of all time in Japan.

Shinkai’s previous film Weathering With You ranks just above Suzume at #14, with earnings of 14.23 billion yen. It is also the 9th highest-grossing anime film in Japan, surpassing Jujutsu Kaisen 0.

• On its opening weekend, the film debuted at #1 and sold 1.33 million tickets, earning 1.88 billion yen (about US$13.49 million) in its first three days.
• Compared to Shinkai’s previous works, Suzume sold 38.7% more tickets and earned 47.4% more revenue than the critically acclaimed Your Name.
  • For the record, Kimi no Na Wa had earned 1,277,960,000 yen (about US$12.51 million at the time) in its opening weekend.
• Additionally, Suzume sold 14.8% more tickets and earned 14.4% more revenue than Shinkai’s previous film, Weathering With You, making it the strongest opening three days for any of Shinkai’s films.

Makoto Shinkai is being globally appreciated

• One would be elated to see that after the mainstream success of the last three of his films, Makoto Shinkai’s films have gained an up-time rev in terms of reception. More and more people are discovering Garden of Words, Children Who Chase Lost Voices, 5 Centimeter Per Second, etc.

All of which are premium works that leave no fret behind in terms of execution, story telling, and visual animation. Of course, the sound scores in Shinkai films have always been heavenly complimentary. Something fans of RADWIMPS as of late may have realized for themselves.

The thing with directors being really known is that they must be really good. Makoto Shinkai may have crept himself into the highly corners of dedicatedly well-received directors. Both critically but financially as well. A similar pedestial in which people imagine such directors include Rajkumar Hirani, S.S. Rajamouli, Christopher Nolan, Tim Burton, etc.

Suzume no Tojimari Box Office release for Asian Countries: Ph, Indonesia, India, Malaysia, Singapore?

While the film was released in Japan back last year, many countries still await its native release in their respective theatres. But as a shroud of good news, Asian countries are awaiting a hype-filled release. Suzume no Tojimari Box Office reception in Japan feels only indicative of what it could potentially do in other Asian countries.

The trailer for Encore Films’ animated film was recently posted on social media, officially announcing its release dates in the countries mentioned earlier.

The movie will first premiere in Indonesia and the Philippines on March 8, followed by Singapore and Malaysia on March 9. India is also going to see Suzume no Tojimari release, brought to the country’s different theatres via PVR. India will see Suzume No Tojimari hit Box Office on April.
