#Suspect in Bay Ridge slaying of Michael Scully held without bail

A 52-year-old Brooklyn man was jailed without bail on murder and gun charges Wednesday in the shooting death of Bay Ridge resident Michael Scully, who was gunned down outside his home while walking his dog.

George Vayos was ordered held without bail by Brooklyn Criminal Court Judge Hilary Gingold pending a return court appearance Friday.

“The information we have is that the defendant and the victim got into a dispute,” prosecutor Wilfredo Cotto told the judge. “The defendant shot the victim, causing the victim’s death. This incident is captured on video surveillance.”

“I would also note that there was a search warrant executed and a gun and clothing the defendant wore at the time of the incident were recovered inside the defendant’s apartment,” Cotto said.

Prosecutors and police have not disclosed the nature of the dispute between the two men nor a motive for the shooting.

Scully, 62, a lifelong Brooklynite, got into a dispute with Vayos shortly before 7 a.m. Monday, when she was shot in the head and shoulder.

Police tracked Vayos back to his apartment several blocks away by using surveillance cameras and took him into custody He was questioned for several hours at the 68th Precinct stationhouse on Tuesday but sources said he did not speak to detectives.

Friends said Scully once worked for tech giant Pitney Bowes but had been self-employed in recent years selling perfume and cologne. They said he doted over his Cocker Spaniels, whom he named after the Three Stooges.

Vayos’ step-cousin, Angel Lopez, told The Post the alleged killer is “kind of f—ed up in his mind,” and “has gone to jail here and there.”

He was charged with second-degree murder, and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a loaded firearm.
