“#Suspect busted in mugging of homeless man in NYC subway”
The suspect who allegedly sucker-punched, kicked and robbed a homeless man inside a Manhattan subway station this week was busted Wednesday morning, cops said.
Ronald Bailey, 42, was nabbed by cops around 10 a.m. and faces a robbery charge in connection to the mugging, police said.
The suspect was caught on surveillance video approaching the 50-year-old victim from behind around 3:20 p.m. Sunday as he stood in front of a manned ticket booth inside 34th Street-Penn Station — socking him in the face.
He then kicked the man while he was down before rifling through his pockets, the clip shows.
The assault happened near the northbound 2 and 3 line, cops said.
The bandit took off with the victim’s cellphone and wallet, holding $700, according to police.
The victim, who suffered cuts and bruising, was taken to a local hospital, where he was treated and released.
“Outstanding work last night by @NYPDPBMS officers who, during a vehicle stop, recognized Ronald Bailey & took him into custody,” Police Commissioner Dermot Shea tweeted Wednesday.
Bailey, who was charged with robbery, has about 30 prior arrests, cops said.
Cops on Tuesday described Bailey as homeless, but provided a Hells Kitchen address for him Wednesday.
