“Super Hero’s New Release Date Announced”

A new Japanese release date of June 11 has been announced for the upcoming Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero movie. The film was originally meant to premiere on April 22 but was indefinitely delayed after an unauthorized network access incident at Toei Animation.

Those who already bought advance tickets can still make use of them on the new release date, an announcement on the film’s website said.

Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero is the second film to be inspired by the Dragon Ball Super anime and manga series. The previous film, Dragon Ball Super: Brolywas released in 2018, while the series ran from 2015 to 2018. The Shueisha-published manga, written by Toriyama and drawn by Toyotarou, began in 2015 and has 18 volumes as of April 2022. The manga is serialized in V Jump and published under the Jump Comics label.

Tetsurou Kodama (Dragon Ball Super: Broly co-CG sequence director) is directing the 3DCG film. Other staff include Kubota Chikashi (One-Punch Man character designer) as animation director, Nobuhito Sue (Dragon Ball Super: Broly art designer) as art director, Rumiko Nagai (Dragon Ball Super: Broly) as color designer, and Naoki Satou (Eureka: Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution) as music composer. Akira Toriyama is handling the character designs and writing the script.

Returning voice actors from the previous Dragon Ball Super film and TV series include Masako NozawaToshio FurukawaRyou HirokawaTakeshi KusaoAya Hisakawa, and more.
