#Studio TRIGGER Releases 10th Anniversary Video

Anime studio TRIGGER has released a video to mark its 10th anniversary. The video, which features clips from past TRIGGER projects like Inferno Cop, Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academia, and SSSS.Gridman, ends with the words, “See you next TRIGGER animation.”

TRIGGER also released a message, saying:

Studio TRIGGER will becoming 10 years old on August 22 2021. This was not possible without the support of our loyal fans. We truly cannot thank you enough. The world went through a series of events that was unimaginable 10 years ago. Even now, the world is still in a very difficult situation. While we cannot better the situation physically, we hope that our animation will bring everyone enjoyment and joy, even if only in a small way. With your ongoing support, TRIGGER will continue to fire bullets of animation for the forseeable future.

TRIGGER was founded in 2011 by ex-Gainax staff Hiroyuki Imaishi and Masahiko Ōtsuka, who are its current representative director and president respectively. At Gainax, both Imaishi and Ōtsuka were involved in shows like Neon Genesis Evangelion, His and Her Circumstances, FLCL. Imaishi also directed Gurren Lagann with Ōtsuka as assistant director.

At TRIGGER, Imaishi directed titles like Kill la Kill, Space Patrol Luluco, and Promare among other contributions. As for Ōtsuka, his non-president contributions include writing the script for the Little Witch Academia short film, directing Kiznaiver‘s 11th episode, and co-directing Promare.

TRIGGER’s most recent project was the Gridman sequel SSSS.Dynazenon, which ran during the Spring 2021 season. A Gridman x Dynazenon project was announced with Dynazenon’s final episode.

The studio is also involved with the upcoming Disney+ Star Wars: Visions anthology and Netflix’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners.
