#Stephen Jackson defends DeSean Jackson’s anti-Semitic posts, blasts Eagles

Former NBA player Stephen Jackson blasted the Eagles for condemning DeSean Jackson’s anti-Semitic social media posts that contained quotes falsely attributed to Adolf Hitler and praise for a political activist notorious for making anti-Semitic remarks.

“He’s speaking the truth,” Stephen Jackson said in a series of rants shared to social media. “You know he don’t hate nobody. But he’s speaking the truth of the facts that he knows, and trying to educate others. But y’all don’t want us to educate ourselves. If this was talking about the black race, y’all ain’t saying nothing about it.”

DeSean Jackson, the three-time Pro Bowl receiver, over the weekend shared to his 1.4 million Instagram followers quotes falsely attributed to Hitler. The quotes, which the fact-checking site Snopes.com said were bogus, read, “the white Jews knows that the Negroes are the real Children of Israel,” that they “will extort America” and that “their plan for world domination won’t work if the Negroes know who they were.”

The 33-year-old DeSean Jackson also praised Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, a black political activist who “routinely accuses Jews of manipulating the U.S. government and controlling the levers of world power,” according to the Southern Poverty Law Center.

Stephen Jackson, 42, took aim at the Eagles, who said that the messages DeSean Jackson shared “were offensive, harmful, and absolutely appalling.”

Stephen Jackson — who also co-hosts the Showtime podcast “All the Smoke” with Matt Barnes — and DeSean Jackson are not related.

“You killing us, police killing us and treating us like s–t, racism at an all-time high, but none of you NFL owners spoke up on that,” Stephen Jackson said. “And none of you teams spoke up on that.”

The Eagles, as well as a majority of North American sports teams, did release a statement condemning systemic racism following the death of George Floyd, an unarmed black man who died after a white Minnesota police officer kept his knee on Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes in May.

Stephen Jackson, who was friends with Floyd and has been outspoken about racial injustice since Floyd’s death, also ripped the Eagles for being “The same team that had a receiver say n—-r publicly and they gave him an extension.”

Jackson, who retired from the NBA after the 2015 season, was likely referring to former Eagles receiver Riley Cooper, who is white and in 2013 was filmed saying at a concert, “I will fight every n—-r here.”

The Eagles fined Cooper an undisclosed amount and released a statement similar to the one issued Tuesday:

“We are shocked and appalled by Riley Cooper’s words,” Eagles owner Jeffrey Lurie said in 2013. “This sort of behavior or attitude from anyone has no role in a civil society. He has accepted responsibility for his words and his actions. He has been fined for this incident.”

DeSean Jackson has since deleted all of the posts and apologized, saying that he was “trying to uplift African Americans and slavery” but didn’t “really realize what this passage was saying.” In a statement Tuesday night, DeSean Jackson pledged to educate himself more.

It was unclear whether DeSean Jackson will be disciplined for his actions. Lurie was born to Jewish parents, but does not practice the religion, while GM Howie Roseman is Jewish.
