#Starbucks’ holidays cups are back in 2020 along with new menu items

It’s the most wonderful time of the year — for caffeine lovers.

In the wake of a still-to-be-decided election and the coronavirus pandemic, Starbucks is releasing their annual holiday cups for the 2020 season.

The four limited-edition designs, known as the “Starbucks Red Cups,” will circulate at cafes starting on Friday, November 6, through the Christmas season. On that day, the brand will be gifting a free reusable, collectible cup to any customer that orders a holiday drink at select stores, according to a press release.

One design, called “Sparkle,” features a red background and green sparkle drawings. Another, dubbed “Ribbon,” is striped with wrapping paper-like patterns and reads “Carry the merry,” a new holiday slogan from the brand. A third green design, “Dots,” sports red and green polka dots and a ribbon that also reads “Carry the merry.” The fourth, named “Brand Wrap,” is red and green and says “Starbucks” across the cup.

In addition to the red cups, the coffee chain’s seasonal drinks will return to its menu. This includes beverages such as the Peppermint Mocha, the Toasted White Chocolate Mocha, the Caramel Brulee Latte, the Chestnut Praline Latte and the Eggnog Latte.

Festive snacks, including a cranberry orange scone, a cranberry bliss bar, a sugar plum cheese danish, a snowman cookie and a snowman cake pop, will also be added to the menu.

Of course, with the sweet comes a little bitter: Many associate omitting the holiday’s name with the “war on Christmas,” which has seen everything from Santa bans to celebrities reworking classic Christmas jingles to make them more “woke.”

Our president, for one, refuses to walk on eggnog shells. Trump famously Tweeted three years ago, “People are proud to be saying Merry Christmas again. I am proud to have led the charge against the assault of our cherished and beautiful phrase. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!”
