#New School Gambling Battle Begins in Kakegurui Twin Live-action Web Drama Trailer

The official website for the live-action adaptation project based on Homura Kawamoto (story) and Toru Naomura (art)’s gambling themed manga Kakegurui has released a key visual and a 60-second trailer for the forthcoming live-action web drama adaptation of its spin-off series Kakegurui Twin.

The spin-off tells a prequel story set one year before the manga’s main story begins when the protagonist Yumeko Jabami transfers to Hyakkaou Private Academy, and centers on Mary Saotome, who won first place in a character popularity poll by readers. The trailer shows scenes of Mary’s first day at the school and how the students are gambling on each other.

The clip also introduces the drama’s theme song “Gyakkou” (Going Backward) provided by 19-year-old singer-songwriter Soushi Sakiyama, who made his major debut in January 2021 by releasing his first album “find fuse in youth.” He says on Twitter, “I wrote a new song called ‘Gyakkou.’ I was very grateful for this opportunity and enjoyed it very much.”

The drama Kakegurui Twin will start streaming for eight episodes exclusively on Amazon Prime Video on March 26, 2021. Two episodes will be sequentially posted every Friday. 25-year-old fashion model/actress Aoi Morikawa, who played Mary Saotome in the first two TV drama in 2018 and 2019, reprises her role, who is 15 years old in the prequel story.
