#Sportsbooks not giving Jets much betting love

The Jets look improved this year after some additions in free agency and the draft and a coaching change. But are they greatly improved? Don’t bet on it.

That’s the message from Las Vegas. The oddsmakers at SuperBook Sports have produced betting lines for every NFL game this season.

The Jets are favorites in four of their 17 games. Oddsmakers set lines with the goal of having money spent equally on each side to ensure a profit for the house. Some teams are national attractions and take more money than they should because of their popularity. The Jets do not fall into that category.

The Jets odds are based off of a team that went 2-14 last season and has lost more games in the last five years than any other team.

As it stands now, the Jets would be underdogs in their first six games of the season. You have to go to Oct. 31 against the Bengals for the Jets to be a favorite. The other games the Jets are favored in are against the Texans, Eagles and Jaguars. The Jets are 1-point favorites over the Bengals and Texans and 1.5-point favorites over the Eagles and Jaguars.

The Texans game is notable because that marks the first time the Jets have been favored in a road game since the final week of the 2019 season when they were 1.5-point favorites over a Bills team that was resting many starters in Buffalo.

The lines will fluctuate between now and when the season arrives, but if the Jets are favorites in four games that would be a jump from last year when they were only favorites in one game. They were 1-point favorites over the Broncos in Week 4 last year.

The lines are also closer this year. The games when they are the biggest underdogs this year come against the Colts and Buccaneers. They are 8.5-point dogs in both games. Last season, the Jets were double-digit underdogs six times. They were 20-point dogs against the Chiefs.

The Jets did pull the biggest upset of the NFL season off last year when they defeated the Rams in December as 17.5-point underdogs.
