Spike Lee is directing a new musical film based on the story behind the creation of Viagra, as Deadline notes. It features a screenplay co-written by Lee and Kwame Kwei-Armah and is based upon David Kushner’s 2018 Esquire article “All Rise: The Untold Story of The Guys Who Launched Viagra.” Songwriting duo Mark “Stew” Stewart and Heidi Rodewald, who created the Tony-winning musical Passing Strange, will be penning the music. Lee previously filmed the 2008 production of Passing Strange and premiered the film in 2009.
