The Nets will leave another star behind in Brooklyn.

Spencer Dinwiddie, the team’s second-leading scorer and leader in assists, announced Tuesday that he won’t participate in the 22-team restart to the NBA season in Orlando after recording another positive test for COVID-19.

Dinwiddie, 27, first announced he tested positive for the coronavirus on June 29 and has been symptomatic, suffering from headaches and dizziness. This season, he averaged a career-high 20.6 points, 6.8 assists and 3.5 rebounds.

“After another positive test (Monday) and considering the symptoms, @BrooklynNets, team doctors and I have decided that it would be in the best interest for me and the team that I do not play in Orlando,” Dinwiddie tweeted. “I will be supporting the guys every step of the way!”

In addition to the absences of Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving and Nicolas Claxton due to injury, the Nets will also be without DeAndre Jordan and Wilson Chandler, who have opted to sit out due to the coronavirus. Durant and Jordan also previously contracted the coronavirus.

The Nets (30-34) currently hold the seventh spot in the Eastern Conference and are scheduled to resume play against the eighth-place Magic (30-35) on July 31.

The Nets were scheduled to arrive in Orlando on Tuesday.
