#Sound! Euphonium Season 3 Teaser Trailer Released

April 2024’s Sound! Euphonium Season 3, which will cover the “Kumiko Third Year Arc,” has received a teaser trailer.

The video has a monologue from Kumiko where she reflects on her appointment as leader of the Kitauji High School band and thinks about the nationals. There’s also a short preview of a conversation between Kumiko and transfer student Mayu Kuroe (“Would you mind, Kumiko? If I’m going to play, I want to play the euphonium.”) as well as a smattering of beautiful, scenic shots.

Sound! Euphonium is inspired by the Takarajimasha-published novel series by Ayano Takeda, which began publication in 2013. The first season of the anime begin airing in 2015, while the last entry, the Sound! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest OVA, premiered in Japanese theaters in August 2023. 

Yen Press describes the first Sound! Euphonium book as: 

After a terrible disappointment at the All-Kyoto Concert Band Competition, music has lost its spark for Kumiko. But her first year at Kitauji High School is a chance for a fresh start. So when it comes time to choose a club, she can’t resist joining the band again–even though they’re simply terrible. The strict new club director has promised to whip them into shape to reach Nationals, but the trouble runs deeper than just a lack of practice. Plus, the discord within the club tugs at Kumiko’s old insecurities. Will Kitauji High School find its rhythm before the competition? Will Kumiko?

In addition to the TV series and Ensemble Contest, the Sound! Euphonium anime include compilation movies of the first two seasons, the Liz and the Blue Bird spin-off movie, and the 2019 Sound! Euphonium: Chikai no Finale film.

The latest light novel entry at the time of writing is Tobitatsu Kimi no Se wo Miageru, a spin-off featuring the viewpoint of supporting character Natsuki Nakagawa. It was first published in 2021 and received a bunkobon release in August 2023.
