#Sound! Euphonium Season 3 Reveals Main Visual, More Cast

A main key visual has been released for Sound! Euphonium Season 3, which starts on April 7. 

New cast members were also announced. They include Shiina Natsukawa as Suzume Kamoya, Ayane Matsuda as Yayoi Kamiishi, Momoka Terasawa as Kaho Hariya, and Emiri Suyama as Sari Yoshii. Their characters are new first-year students.

Sound! Euphonium Season 3 will follow Kumiko, now the leader of the Kitauji High School band, in her third year of high school. A prominent new character is the transfer student Mayu Kuroe, who is also a euphonium player. 

The first season begin airing in 2015. The last entry, the Sound! Euphonium: Ensemble Contest OVA, premiered in Japanese theaters in August 2023. The show is inspired by the Takarajimasha-published novel series by Ayano Takeda.

Yen Press describes the first Sound! Euphonium book as: 

After a terrible disappointment at the All-Kyoto Concert Band Competition, music has lost its spark for Kumiko. But her first year at Kitauji High School is a chance for a fresh start. So when it comes time to choose a club, she can’t resist joining the band again–even though they’re simply terrible. The strict new club director has promised to whip them into shape to reach Nationals, but the trouble runs deeper than just a lack of practice. Plus, the discord within the club tugs at Kumiko’s old insecurities. Will Kitauji High School find its rhythm before the competition? Will Kumiko?

The book series started in 2013. A recent entry is the 2021 spin-off Tobitatsu Kimi no Se wo Miageru, which has Natsuki Nakagawa as the viewpoint character. 

On the anime side, in addition to the TV seasons and Ensemble Contest, there are compilation movies of the first two seasons, the Liz and the Blue Bird spin-off movie, and the 2019 Sound! Euphonium: Chikai no Finale film.
