“#Six hurt in Black Friday, Thanksgiving NYC shootings: cops”
A 24-year-old man was blasted in the leg on Atlantic Avenue near Ashford Street in Cypress Hill around 4 a.m. Friday.
He was taken to Wyckoff Heights Medical Center, and it was not immediately clear what led up to the gunplay.
Hours earlier, around 11:50 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, a 25-year-old man was shot in the groin during a dispute at the corner of 162nd Street and Anderson Avenue in the Highbridge section of the Bronx, cops said.
He was taken to Lincoln Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
And just before 6 p.m. on Sterling Place near Schenectady Avenue in Crown Heights, a 37-year-old man was shot once in the stomach and once in the leg, police said.
He was taken to the Kings County Hospital Center, where he was expected to survive. The circumstances of that shooting were not immediately clear.
Thursday’s shooting victims also included a 28-year-old man wounded as he walked in Harlem.
Only one person was shot on Thursday’s date in 2019, which was a Tuesday.
Two people were shot on Thanksgiving Day last year, which fell on Nov. 28.
The city has seen a significant spike in gun violence in recent months.
As of Thursday, 1,714 people had been wounded in 1,395 separate shootings, cops said.
That’s more than double the number of victims — and nearly twice as many incidents — compared to the same period last year, according to authorities.
