#Song You Need: Move’s “1,000,000 Experiments” is ACAB to the bone

Boston band Move are a group that puts their politics front and center of its resilient and fiery sound. The group are named after the Black liberation and environmentalism group that was bombed by Philadelphia cops in the ’80s and their new song “1,000,000 Experiments” pays homage to author and activist Mariame Kaba, who advocates for the abolition of the prison industrial complex, including the police. It’s not all tied up in theory though, with guitarists Nick Hochmuth and Andrew Crumby keeping the groove swinging throughout.

Across Black Radical Love, the band’s upcoming debut album, set for release on August 11, Move put as much emphasis as establishing new ways of living as bringing down those that no longer serve the people. “1,000,000 Experiments” is a typically free-wheeling and energetic cut from the record, with vocalist Corey Charpentier shouting “Transform what justice can be!” while bobbing and weaving a rhythm section that swerves vigorously. Together they create a song to electrify, moving limbs and mindsets together as one.
