#Son of late ‘Dyno Gyno’ wants judge to order autopsy of dad’s remains

The son of disgraced “dyno-gyno” Niels Lauersen wants a court to release the body of the late “fertility doctor to the stars” so an autopsy can rule out “foul play” after he died under the care of an Ambien-slinging cash-only home doctor, new court papers show.

Lauersen — a “fertility doctor to the stars” who served prison time for insurance fraud — was prescribed Ambien by a cash-only home doctor in the time leading to his July 14 death in his Upper East Side home,  an emergency petition filed by his doctor son Tyler Evans alleges.

Evans —  an infectious disease specialist and chief medical officer for the city’s Emergency Management office — says after his 84-year-old dad’s passing he was “greatly concerned” to hear that Lauersen had been prescribed the sleep aid, since it can cause “severe adverse consequences” in the elderly, the court papers allege.

Evans wants the autopsy to be preformed because he “has reason to believe that [Lauersen] died due to negligence or foul play,” the court documents allege.

“There are lots of questions,” Evans told The Post by phone. “There are suspicions. And that’s why we want an autopsy.”

Evans — who says he has expertise in old-age medicine — says that he was very involved in his father’s medical care and was designated as his primary care physician, according to the court papers.

But, Evans didn’t know that Dr. Papanna Ravichandra had been visiting his dad and prescribed Ambien “on a regular basis,” which he believes could either have exacerbated his dad’s chronic dementia, could have caused an accidental or intentional overdose or could have been part of foul play, the court papers allege.

Ravichandra pronounced his father dead, the court documents say.

Evans says that Lauersen — who preferred to sleep in his bed in long johns — “was found on his couch in the nude. This begs the question of what happened at or the [sic] near the time of his death to result in such circumstances,” the court filings say.

The cops were “incorrectly informed that decedent had COVID-19,” and the “medical examiner made the decision not to conduct an autopsy after receiving a false report that Decedent had COVID-19,” court papers say.

Evans says his dad couldn’t have had the virus because he recently tested negative after having been released from a medical facility to his home, the court papers say.

Evans can’t reach agreement with all of his family members regarding the autopsy, so he is asking for an emergency order from a judge to have the body released from the Frank E. Campbell, The Funeral Chapel.

“Unfortunately, it appears that despite no reasonable objection from any individual claiming to be next of kin, at least one individual will not sign a consent,” the court papers say.

Evans told The Post that one of his aunts isn’t on board with the plan.

The funeral home says either all the family members have to agree or they need a court order before they can release the remains.

“He was 84, and things do happen, but my being a scientist and a physician and a son, I have a lot of questions and I would like to have the autopsy,” Evans told The Post.

As to Ravichandra, Evans said, “Frankly, I have question about his background, his intention and the fact that he was prescribing Ambien to an 84-year-old. That is really a faux pas.”

“We are just really trying to move this process along and do the right thing so that we can memorialize my father in the way that he should be,” Evans said adding that it has been confusing since his father didn’t leave a will behind.

“I don’t have any plan right now,” to sue anyone, Evans said.

Lauersen — who treated Celine Dion and  Liv Ullman  — served 70 months in prison and was ordered to pay $3.2 million in restitution for bilking insurance companies of millions worth of fertility procedures.

After treating Geraldo Rivera’s wife, Rivera dubbed him the Dyno-Gyno.

Ravichandra — who is not named as a respondent in the case — did not immediately return a request for comment.
