Soak, a.k.a. Northern Irish singer-songwriter Bridie Monds-Watson, has announced details of their third album. If I Never Know You Like This Again will be released on May 20 via Rough Trade Records. A video for lead single “last july,” featuring Monds-Watson and their partner, can be seen below.

A press release states If I Never Know You Like This Again was written during the pandemic with collaborator Tommy McLaughlin joining Monds-Watson on songwriting duties. The album was recorded at Donegal’s Attica Studios. “This record is the most accurate picture of me. I felt no pressure at all, it was almost like I was ranting as I was writing,” Monds-Watson says. “When I was looking to the past, it was as though I had a big lottery ball of all my recent memories and I would just randomly select which one I wanted to unpack. It helped me to process my past.”

If I Never Know You Like This Again is the follow-up to 2019’s Grim Town. Soak’s debut album, Before We Forgot How to Dream, was released in 2015.

Tracklist:

“purgatory”
“last july”
“bleach”
“get well soon”
“red-eye”
“guts”
“baby, you’re full of shit”
“pretzel”
“neptune”
“swear jar”
