President Trump said he may deliver his speech at the UN General Assembly in person, while other world leaders have opted to send in video recordings.

“I’m thinking about going directly to the UN to do the speech,” Trump said at the White House press briefing Thursday.

“I think it’s appropriate, if we can do it, I’ll do it directly. Again, this will not be like it is in the past because some countries will not be able to escape the problems they’re having,” he added.

Trump said he thinks appearing in person would better represent the US and that he feels he has an “obligation” to be there.

Last month, Reem Abaza, the spokesperson for the president of the General Assembly, said each state in the assembly had been invited to submit a pre-recorded video, which will be streamed into the UN.

Trump said Thursday that his speech would be an important one and added he expected the UN hall to have a spacing requirement because of the coronavirus pandemic if he does give it in person.
