#New charges could be looming in Jeffrey Epstein investigation

New charges related to multi-millionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein could be in the works as a grand jury investigation that ensnared him and alleged madam Ghislaine Maxwell remains active, according to court papers filed Friday.

Federal prosecutors in Maxwell’s criminal case revealed the ongoing investigation in a letter urging a judge to block her from filing newly obtained information in civil cases against her.

The documents, which Maxwell’s attorneys have called “critical new information,” could jeopardize their ongoing investigation if it is allowed to be filed in the civil cases.

“As the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York has stated publicly, the investigation into the conduct of the defendant in this case and other possible co-conspirators of Jeffrey Epstein remains active,” prosecutors wrote in the letter.

“The full scope and details of that investigation, however, have not been made public,” they added.

Maxwell was arrested last month on a six-count indictment for allegedly procuring three girls to be abused by her and Epstein and for allegedly lying about it under oath. She’s pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail pending her trial.

Epstein died in a Lower Manhattan federal lockup in August 2019 after being arrested on sex trafficking charges.

The US Attorney’s Office in the Southern District of New York, which brought both cases, has repeatedly publicly warned that the probe in alleged co-conspirators of Epstein remain ongoing.

After Epstein’s suicide, Attorney General Bill Barr warned that his associates should not “rest easy.”
