One day before the last day, the Sister Princess franchise's crowdfunding campaign has already collected an impressive 43,371,800 yen, 216 percent of its initial goal of 20 million yen. That amount is more than enough to realize its two stretch goals – Karen's swimsuit costume and a full album performed by five sisters.
The crowdfunding campaign was launched by the 20th-anniversary project for the Sister Princess franchise to make a virtual live concert by five sisters happen. The five sisters are Karen (CV: Natsuko Kuwatani), Sakuya (Yui Horie), Kaho (Hisayo Mochizuki), Mamoru (Yumiko Kobayashi), and Aria (Nana Mizuki). Mamoru and Aria's virtual YouTuber debut is also planned.
As reported, it immediately met its initial goal of 20 million yen (about 188,000 US dollars) only in seven hours, so the two new stretch goals were added. The enthusiasm (and savings) of the fans who have loved the franchise for 20 years were incredible.
Now, an online event to reveal Karen's swimsuit costume, including her mini-concert, is decided to be held in near future. The franchise's official Twitter has been holding an online poll to ask fans which swimsuit Karen should wear from four candidates.
However, Karen said in the latest episode posted on Monday that her own choice is No.4, a newly-designed one, because the other three (one piece, bikini, and pareo) were drawn almost twenty years ago. The three may give a favorable nostalgic feeling to the hardcore fans, but the newcomers who learn about the 12 sisters for the first time may feel they are too old-fashioned. In order to develop the franchise longer and more widely, the design of her new swimsuit has to be more modern and something that appeals to the fans of today. That was Karen's opinion.
