Silk Sonic’s heartfelt embrace of the most capital-V Vintage soul and R&B traditions have earned them four Grammy nominations for their 2021 album An Evening with Silk Sonic as well as massive commercial success thanks to the singles “Leave the Door Open,” “Skate,” and “Smoking Out the Window.” Given the project’s overall vibe, it would have been a bit weird if Anderson .Paak and Bruno Mars hadn’t released a one-off Valentine’s Day Silk Sonic single, and one’s out today.

“Love’s Train” is a cover of a 1982 single by Com Funk Shun. Even if the aesthetic of Silk Sonic may seem tongue-in-cheek, the music and the duo’s appreciation for the era they’re channeling certainly isn’t, and that comes through on “Love Train.” Listen below.
