“Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie Manga Reaches Final Chapter”
The Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie romantic comedy manga by Keigo Maki, which inspired a 2022 anime series, has reached its end with the release of its 172nd chapter on February 18.
In commemoration, the Magazine Pocket website is hosting a lottery until February 24, with entrants limited to those who purchase Chapter 172 on the site. 50 lucky winners will receive a Bride Acrylic Stand of the titular Shikimori.

The Kodansha-published title, which was originally a Twitter-posted comic, began serialization on Magazine Pocket in 2019, with tankoubon volumes published under the KC Deluxe label. The series follows a kind but unlucky teenager and his cute girlfriend, with the latter having a cool side that emerges at times. The 17th and 18th volumes were released on February 9, 2022, while the 19th and 20th volumes, with the 20th being the final one, will be released on April 7.
Kodansha USA describes Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie as:
Shikimori seems like the perfect girlfriend: cute, fun to be around, sweet when she wants to be… but she has a cool dark side that comes out under the right circumstances. And her boyfriend Izumi loves to be around when that happens! A fun and funny high school romance with a sassy twist perfect for fans of Nagatoro-san and Komi Can’t Communicate!
The anime adaptation of Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie aired in Spring 2022 with 12 episodes. Ryouta Itou (Sing “Yesterday” for Me assistant director) directed the series with Shouhei Yamanaka (Remake Our Life! Ep 1-7 assistant director) as assistant director, Ai Kikuchi (Sleepy Princess in the Demon Castle) as character designer, and Yoshimi Narita (My Senpai Is Annoying) as series composer. Doga Kobo produced the show.
On February 8, the Shikimori’s Not Just A Cutie manga’s Twitter account announced a lottery in which 100 lucky winners will receive an exclusive signed poster illustrated by Maki. The lottery requires fans to have the entry tickets that come with the series’ last four tankoubon volumes.
