Los Angeles, CA – Trippie Redd recently sat down for an interview with Big Boy’s Neighborhood where he made an interesting confession.

According to the platinum-selling rapper himself, he had no idea Drake was throwing a shot at Kanye West on the song “Betrayal,” which arrived earlier this month on Trippie Redd’s Trip At Knight album.

“I thought he was talking about a strap or something, forty-five, forty-four,” he says. “I didn’t know what he was talking about. It is what it is.”

The line that appeared to awaken Drake and Kanye’s 2018 beef from its slumber went, “All these fools I’m beefin’ that I barely know/Forty-five, forty-four (Burned out), let it go/Ye ain’t changin’ shit for me, it’s set in stone,” a reference to their album release dates.

In response, Ye posted an image of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker in the chat, then added Drake’s longtime foe Pusha T to the conversation.

“I live for this,” he wrote in the since-deleted post. “I’ve been fucked with by nerd ass jock n-ggas like you my whole life. You will never recover. I promise you.”

But as of Sunday (August 29), the argument over who will drop their respective projects first is over after Kanye’s Donda album finally hit streaming services. Drake then confirmed on Monday (August 30), his long awaited follow-up to 2018’s Scorpion album, Certified Lover Boy, will arrive on Friday (September 3).

In terms of high profile releases, Kendrick Lamar is likely next on the schedule. The celebrated MC appeared to kick off his album rollout on August 20 when he announced his next studio effort would be his last for Top Dawg Entertainment.

Until that surfaces, check out Trippie Redd’s “Betrayal” featuring Drake below.
