Bandai Namco Filmworks has uploaded a new 150-second clip from the upcoming Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan’s Island film on their YouTube channel. The film is scheduled to premiere in Japan on June 3, 2022. 

The clip features Earth Federation commander Gopp having an online transmission with Zeon Principality colonel M’Quve. The latter tells Gopp to stop the upcoming Federation attack on Gibraltar. If he does not comply, he will threaten the destruction of Washington, London, New York, and other metropolitan centers on Earth. 

An initial key trailer and visual was released back in March 2022. Another new trailer was released later in April. 

Cucuruz Doan’s Island is a retelling of the 15th episode of the original Mobile Suit Gundam anime series. The project was one of three Gundam projects announced in September 2021. 

Tooru Furuya will reprise his iconic role as Amuro Ray in the film while Shunsuke Takeuchi replaces the late Kan Tokumaru as Cucuruz Doan. Other voice cast members include Ken Narita as Bright Noa, Satomi Arai as Mirai Yashima, Megumi Han as Sayla Mass, Toshio Furukawa as Kai Shiden, Hideki Nakanishi as Hayato Kobayashi, Misato Fukuen as Fraw Bow, and Tomofumi Ikezoe as Sleggar Law. 

Sunrise is handling the animation production for the film. Veteran animator Yoshikazu Yasuhiko (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin — Advent of the Red Comet) will be directing the film while Yoshiyuki Tomino and Hajime Yatate are credited with the original work. Toshizou Nemoto (Bakuten!!) will be the film’s scriptwriter. Yasuhiko, Tsukasa Kotobuki (Miss Kuroitsu from the Monster Development Department), and Atsushi Tamura (Weathering with You) will handle the film’s character designs. Takayuki Hattori (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin — Advent of the Red Comet) is composing the film’s music. 

Additional production staff for the film include Kunio Okawara (GUNDAM BREAKER BATTLOGUE co-mecha designer, Mobile Suit Gundam) and Kimitoshi Yamane (Mobile Fighter G Gundam and Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway co-mecha designer) as mecha designers. Im Ga-Hee (Sonny Boy episode director) serves as assistant director, Yuuji Kaneko (Josee, Tiger and the Fish) is the art director, Nagisa Abe (SCARLET NEXUS) is the color designer, and Morihito Abe (Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway co-CG director) is the CG director.
