#Seattle cops find spike strips, weapons, makeshift shields during park cleanup

Seattle cops uncovered spike strips, weapons and dozens of makeshift shields in the Capitol Hill neighborhood during a park cleanup, authorities said.

The dangerous tools were discovered inside a tent Tuesday at Cal Anderson Park, which had been occupied by protesters throughout the month of August, the Capitol Hill Seattle Blog reported.

While parks workers were cleaning up trash, they came across what appeared to be weapons, police said.

Officers obtained a search warrant for the tent and recovered a machete, hatchet, homemade spike strips, an unexploded mortar, and multiple makeshift shields, authorities said.

No arrests have been made in the case, but the investigation is ongoing, police said.

The park is located in the same district where demonstrators set up the Capitol Hill Organized Protest or “CHOP” zone before the city cleared it in early July.
