#AOC blasts long wait lines for voters at Bronx polling site

A Bronx polling site got an unexpected visitor Sunday morning — local Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who blasted current hours-long waits across the city to vote.

“There is no place in the United States of America where two-, three-, four-hour waits to vote is acceptable,’’ the Democratic socialist pol said outside a Parkchester site, one of 88 spots open to Big Apple residents to cast their ballots before Election Day on Nov. 3, including many locations where lines have been wrapping around blocks since early voting began Saturday.

“And just because it is happening in a blue state doesn’t mean it isn’t voter suppression,” AOC said of the extensive waits and New York’s traditional Democratic Party leaning, according to video posted to ABC. “There is very clearly a problem. There is a lot of work to be done.

“But that being said, I am thrilled to see how many people who are overcoming this injustice,’’ the US representative said. “We are going to overcome this hurdle, so that we can elect the folks that make sure this is not a problem in the future.’’

The number of Big Apple residents voting Saturday, or 93,830, was near double the total amount of early voters for all of the nine days it was allowed for the primaries in June, according to city Board of Election figures.
