#Sakamoto Days Opening & Ending Theme Songs Now Playing on Music Streaming Platforms

The main opening and ending theme songs for the popular ongoing Sakamoto Days TV anime series are now available on music streaming platforms.
Japanese singer-songwriter Vaundy is performing the anime’s opening theme “RUN SAKAMOTO RUN,” which was released digitally on January 12, 2025. The song can be streamed here.

Vaundy provided the following statement for his latest single:
When I wrote “RUN SAKAMOTO RUN”, I aimed to convey the inspirational protagonist Sakamoto’s overwhelming, unmatched strength. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to record the song in London, which gave it a unique sound, making it a piece I can truly say I gave my all to. I hope the song ‘runs’ together with the manga, anime, and all of you guys!
Meanwhile, 3-member Japanese rock band Conton Candy is performing the anime’s ending theme “FUTSUU” and was released digitally on January 17, 2025. The song can be accessed via the band’s main artist page here.

The band also provided the following statement on their newest song:
We are thrilled to announce that our song “FUTSUU” has been chosen as the ending theme for the TV anime SAKAMOTO DAYS!
This marks our very first anime tie-in, and we couldn’t be more honored. When we first received the offer, we were overjoyed and a bit surprised, but those feelings quickly turned into determination. With that excitement in our hearts, we poured everything into creating this song.
You might be wondering, “A title called ‘FUTSUU’?” Well, the lyrics reflect Aoi’s feelings toward Sakamoto. They’re filled with warm and heartfelt words, so we hope you’ll take a moment to listen closely and feel the emotions in the song. Watch SAKAMOTO DAYS as much as you can, listen to “FUTSUU” over and over, and let’s create an amazing anime experience together!
The anime’s 11-episode first cour is set to premiere on January 11, 2025, while the second cour will premiere in July 2025. Netflix will stream the series worldwide with a weekly release schedule.
The anime is based on the manga by Yuto Suzuki, which began in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump on November 21, 2020 and has released 20 tankobon volumes as of January 2025. A 21st volume is set for release on March 4, 2025.

Viz Media releases the Sakamoto Days manga in English, describing the main synopsis as:
Time has passed peacefully for Sakamoto since he left the underworld. He’s running a neighborhood store with his lovely wife and child and has gotten a bit…out of shape. But one day a figure from his past pays him a visit with an offer he can’t refuse: return to the assassin world or die!
