Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg underwent a minor medical procedure at a New York City hospital on Wednesday, the US Supreme Court said.

The 87-year-old received non-surgical treatment at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in Manhattan to revise a bile duct stent that doctors at the hospital had originally placed last August, according to a statement from the High Court.

She is “resting comfortably” and should be released by the end of the week, the statement said.

“According to her doctors, stent revisions are common occurrences and the procedure, performed using endoscopy and medical imaging guidance, was done to minimize the risk of future infection,” the statement said.

The procedure comes after Ginsburg revealed earlier this month that she had been undergoing chemotherapy for a recurrence of cancer since May 19.

She said the therapy has not limited her ability to do her job, and that she planned to continue serving.

Ginsburg, a four-time cancer survivor, was also hospitalized earlier this month for fever and chills stemming from a procedure to remove gallstones.
