After almost 20 years, RTLZwei is taking an old plan out of the drawer: launching its own anime channel on free TV.

In the midst of Germany’s anime boom, then RTLZwei station boss Josef Andorfer promised in 2003 that he would soon launch his own anime station. As we should all know, the station never went live. The project was finally buried in the winter of 2004/2005 with the launch of “Pokito” as a children’s brand. As we have now learned from people close to RTLZwei, the old plans should now be taken out of the moth box again. You heard correctly: RTL two is planning to launch its own 24/7 again Anime-Senders.

As has now leaked, the new transmitter should RTLZwei-ANIME am October 01, 2021 and thus on time for the new one Transmitter season 2021/22 to be launched. Negotiations are still in progress regarding the anime licenses, but a first batch of planned anime series can already be announced today. So it should be next to a TV comeback of «Monster Rancher» and «Nadia – The Power of the Magic Stone» finally the long-awaited new episodes of «Ranma 1/2» give. There should also be repetitions of «Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s », «Dragon Ball Z» and «Dr. Slump» give. Also interesting is the fact that RTLZwei anime plays all 64 episodes of «Dragon Ball GT», some of them in German TV premiere, promises. In addition to a lot of nostalgia, it should of course also be new material from Japan, the Munich broadcaster will announce more about this at a later date.

Incidentally, the station is supposed to be over Satellite, Cable, IPTV and also free on the net as a stream Tobe offered. Further information is expected to be sent to RTLZwei Screenforce Days 2021 (the big TV industry event). Starting this evening, it will also have its own website rtl2zwei-anime.de give.
