People who want to stick a TV on their porch have two options. Either shell out $2,000+ for a weather-resistant set, or stick an outdoor cover over a regular TV and cross your fingers. But Roku is shaking things up a bit with its first outdoor TV, which costs nearly half the price of the competition.

Available sometime this week, the 55-inch Element Roku Outdoor TV costs just $1,300 but boasts an IP55 weather and dust-resistance rating and tempered anti-glare glass. It’s also got the guts to withstand temperatures between -4 and 104 degrees Fahrenheit (that’s -15.6 to 40 degrees Celsius).

Spec-wise, we’re looking at a 4K resolution, HDR 10 support, 700 nits of brightness (for daytime use), and “powerful built-in speakers.” These features are exactly what you’d expect from a much more expensive outdoor TV—needless to say, we’re shocked that Element and Roku managed to produce something so affordable.

Now, 700 nits isn’t ideal for daytime use (unless you’re in a covered area). It seems that Element and Roku made a big comprise here, as Samsung’s outdoor TVs shine at 2,000 nits. The problem, of course, is that Samsung’s 55-inch outdoor TV costs $3,500. That’s nearly three times the price of the Roku.

I should also note we’re missing some of the Roku outdoor TV’s specs. We still don’t know its refresh rate, whether it supports Dolby Atmos, or what type of LED panel it uses, for example. When these details come to light, I’ll be sure to update this article.

Roku says that Element outdoor TV will launch “shortly,” or “this week.” It will be available at Walmart for $1,300. (This may be a Walmart exclusive, as Element is one of Walmart’s most faithful suppliers. We’ve reached out to Roku for clarification.)
