The newly announced Resident Evil Requiem will be playable in both first- and third-person, first hands-on previews for the game from Summer Game Fest 2025 have confirmed.

The anticipated sequel features a toggle to switch between perspectives in the pause menu.

While the majority of Resident Evil series games have used a third-person camera, Resident Evil 7: biohazard introduced a first-person camera, which carried over into Resident Evil Village—until the downloadable content “Winter’s Expansion” enabled the option to play the game in third-person.

Previews are up in English at the following outlets and YouTube channels: Game Informer, GameSpot, Easy Allies, IGN, PlayStation Blog, Maximilian Dood, Rock Paper Shotgun, The Sphere Hunter, Xbox Wire. Japanese previews are available at 4Gamer.net and Famitsu.

Resident Evil Requiem is due out for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC via Steam on February 27, 2026.
