In this dog-eat-dog election season, even your pet can reveal something about your politics.

Compared to Democrats, Republicans are twice less likely to spay or neuter their dogs, according to new data from smart-dog-collar makers Fi. The company used GPS technology to tap into its database of 1.6 million dogs and compare it to voting data from the 2016 election, as well as current individual household donations to the Trump and Biden 2020 presidential campaigns.

Their findings revealed some doggone truths about the breeds each political affiliation prefers, the likelihood of each spaying and neutering their dogs, which party prefers a specific gender and more.

Among their findings: Dog names could reveal a bit of a Camelot complex among Democrats: Among the Top 5 most popular Dem doggie names are Diamond, Prince, Princess, King and Bhodi.

And with all the finger-pointing at who wronged who, it’s no wonder a top dog name for Republicans is Brutus. Among the other popular Republican dog names are Ruger, Sassy, Buckeye and Baby.

Republicans also tend to think bigger is better: They’re 13% more likely than Democrats to have dogs weighing more than 25 pounds. And Republicans are 20% more likely than Democrats to have mixed-breed dogs.

The data also showed that Democrats are six times more likely to have poodle mixes — otherwise known as Doodles — than Republicans. And while Republicans have been barked at for failing to produce a successful female candidate at the top of the ticket, they are 6% more likely to have a female dog.
