Tory Lanez’s bail was increased to $350,000 after a judge found him in violation of a protective order in Lanez’s trail for felony assault against Megan Thee Stallion, according to a TMZ report.

At issue was a tweet Lanez posted in February alluding to the case and seeming to address Megan. “Good d*** had me f***ing 2 best friends … and I got caught … that’s what I apologized for … it’s sick how u Spun it tho …” The judge found the tweet in violation of Lanez’s instructions to not mention Megan on social media, and briefly remanded the rapper into custody, Rolling Stone‘s Nancy Dillion reported from the courthouse on Tuesday.

Lanez will be freed once the new $350,000 bail amount is posted. Prosecutors had reportedly asked the judge to remove bail or to place it at $5 million, according to Lanez’s lawyer Shawn Holley.

Tory Lanez is charged with one felony count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm and one count of carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle. He is accused of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot after a party on July 12, 2021. Megan has identified Tory as the shooter, and Lanez has pled not guilty. A trial is set for September 14; if convicted, Lanez faces a maximum sentence of 22 years in prison.

Lanez’s attorney Shawn Holley issued the following statement to The FADER: “The DA requested that Mr. Peterson’s bail be revoked or, in the alternative, that it be increased to $5 million. We are pleased that the Court rejected those outrageous requests.”
