“Japan Box Office: The Quintessential Quintuplets the Movie Returns to Top 10”

 

 

After disappearing once last weekend, The Quintessential Quintuplets the Movie is back in the top 10 in its 11th weekend, ranking eighth.

 

The 136-minute sequel film to the two-season TV anime adaptation of Negi Haruba’s romantic comedy manga was released in Japan on May 20. Due to favorable reviews and high critical acclaim among fans, it has earned 2.15 billion yen (16.44 million USD) on over 1.5 million admissions, becoming the fourth top-grossing Japanese anime film of 2022.

 

Since last Friday, July 29, 91 more theaters in Japan have begun screening the film, and a limited number of miniature color papers with illustrations have been distributed as an admission bonus in the additional theaters.

Kingdom 2 Harukanaru Daichi e (To the Land of Faraway), the second live-action film adaptation of Yasuhisa Hara‘s historical adventure manga, lost the top spot, which it held for two consecutive weekends, to Jurassic World: Dominion in its third weekend. The Kento Yamaziki-starring film has almost earned three billion yen (23 million USD) from its domestic run.

 

Dragon Ball Super: SUPER HERO ranked 10th in its eighth weekend, bringing its total to 2.5 billion yen (19 million USD). Meanwhile, Laid-Back Camp: Movie disappeared from top 10 in its fifth weekend.
